International Doctorate Programme (IDK) "Philology: Practices of Pre-modern Cultures, Global Perspectives and Future Concepts" (Elite Network of Bavaria)

LMU-BrunnenThe International Doctorate Programme (IDK) "Philology. Practices of Pre-Modern Cultures, Global Perspectives and Future Concepts", funded by the Elite Network Bavaria, is a collaboration between Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (speaker university), Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, and Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg. The programme’s spokesperson is Prof. Dr. Susanne Reichlin, the co-spokesperson is Prof. Dr. Florian Mehltretter. The spokesperson of the first funding period was Prof. Dr. Beate Kellner, the co-spokesperson was Prof. Dr. Susanne Reichlin. more.

The program started in October 2021 and funding has been renewed for four further years. The second funding period of the IDK Philology began on October 1, 2025 and runs until September 30, 2029.

A total of eight different faculties from the three universities are involved in the IDK, as well as the IT group of the Humanities and Cultural Studies. A list of the participating subjects and fields can be found under Participating Disciplines.
