Marco Pouget (馬熠輝) is an early-career researcher in Chinese intellectual and cultural history, specialising in premodern commentarial traditions, the “Confucian” classics, and the textual representation of lived experience. His research explores how scholarly practices shaped paradigms of interpretation, intellectual authority, and the transmission of canonical knowledge in early China.

Marco’s dissertation project at FAU Erlangen–Nuremberg (successfully defended in May 2026) examined commentary as an intersection of philology, hermeneutics, and intellectual practice in early imperial China, with particular attention to Zheng Xuan’s 鄭玄 (127–200 CE) engagement with the Liji 禮記 (Notes on Mores). Methodologically, his work combines close textual analysis with intellectual history and comparative approaches to premodern knowledge traditions. His broader research interests include political thought, animal studies, and the social history of classical learning.

Marco has held visiting research positions at Academia Sinica (Taiwan) and the University of California (Berkeley). Besides preparing a monograph based on his dissertation, he is currently developing future projects on the epistemic authority of the written past in early China, as well as examining the reception history of the Lunyu 論語 (Assembled Discourses of Confucius). In addition to his research, Marco has taught courses on Chinese intellectual history, statecraft, canonical texts, and narrative literature at LMU Munich and in a pupils’ talent development programme. He is currently involved in graduate mentoring and contributes to digital teaching initiatives in global philology.

Marco also serves as research coordinator of the doctorate programme, overseeing the conceptualisation and organisation of collaborative research activities. He is an external member of the Programme de Recherche “Citation et autres usages savants de la reprise textuelle” at the CRCAO in Paris. He has received the European Association for Chinese Studies Young Scholar Award (2024) and multiple competitive fellowships and mobility grants, e.g. from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Elite Network of Bavaria.

馬熠輝是中國古代思想文化史領域的學者，專攻前現代註釋傳統、儒家經典及生活經驗的文本表徵。其研究探討學術實踐如何塑造早期中國詮釋範式、知識權威體系及古典知識傳承模式。

馬熠輝於埃爾朗根-紐倫堡大學與慕尼黑大學完成的博士論文（2026年5月成功答辯），以鄭玄（公元127–200年）詮釋《禮記》為核心案例，探究注釋作為早期帝制中國中文語文學、詮釋學與知識實踐交匯點的現象。其研究方法融合文本細讀、思想史與前現代知識傳統之比較研究。更廣泛的研究興趣涵蓋禮儀理論、政治思想、動物研究及古典學問之社會史。

馬熠輝曾於台灣中央研究院及加州大學柏克萊分校擔任訪問研究員。除將博士論文擴展為專著外，他正開展新計畫，如探究早期中國書面傳統的知識權威性，以及研究文本中動物的映照。除學術研究外，馬熠輝曾於慕尼黑大學及學生才藝發展計畫中教授中國思想史、治國之道、經典文本與敘事文學課程。現參與研究生指導工作，並投身全球語文學領域的數位教學計畫。

馬熠輝同時擔任“語文學國際博士項目”的研究協調員，統籌合作研究活動的構思與組織。身為巴黎CRCAO研究所「引述與文本再利用之學術實踐」研究計畫外部成員，他曾獲歐洲漢學協會青年學者獎（2024），並多次贏得德國學術交流服務處（DAAD）及巴伐利亞精英網絡等機構頒發的競爭性獎學金與交流補助。
