IDK Foundation Courses WS 2022/23

At the beginning of the IDK Philology programme, the doctoral students participated in two courses aimed at expanding the theoretical and technical framework for research: Foundation Course I, an overview of the research perspectives from the participating philological departments and Foundation Course II, an introduction to Digital Humanities, which was conducted in collaboration with the IT Group for Humanities at LMU. These courses ran during the winter semester of 2021/2022.

In Foundation Course I, programme’s supervisors gave insights into philological working methods and the diverse range of departments represented in the program, as well as the universities they are affiliated with over the course of 13 sessions.

Foundation Course II, led by Dr. Markus Frank, Dr. Axel Wisiorek, and Dr. Christian Riepl, covered the fundamentals of systematic work, such as various programming languages like Python and XML, as well as research data management, aiming to facilitate the doctoral students' entry into working with the latest research methods in Digital Humanities.
